The Basilica del Carmine, with the cave dedicated to Archangel Michael and the Museum, is part of the Urban Museum System of Mesagne (SUM) in Mesagne.
The entity, composed of the Municipal Administration, the Federalberghi association, and the Parish of “All Saints,” aims to enhance and promote in a unified manner the rich cultural heritage of the city of Mesagne. This initiative begins with the two museums located in Piazza Orsini del Balzo: the Museum of Sacred Art in Palazzo Cavaliere/Argentiero and the Museum of the Territory in the Norman-Swabian Castle. It then extends to the entire historic center, including the archaeological settlement of Vico Quercia, the church of Sant’Anna, and the Mother Church.
The inclusion of the Basilica del Carmine in the SUM adds value to the cultural identity of the region, contributing to representing a significant example of collaboration between art, faith, and tradition.
